Energy Audits

The high price of fuel and the growing interest in more eco-friendly lives have produced a renewed interest in energy audits. An energy audit is similar to a home inspection except that it is a targeted effort to quantify energy inefficiencies in a home and make recommendations to reduce energy consumption. The result is saving money and reducing our environmental footprint. An audit takes 2-3 hours. A blower door and infared camera are used to locate the source of air leaks and to measure the effectiveness of insulation. Since a "tighter" house can produce a "sicker" house and can negatively affect the performance of a gas furnace and water heater, a combustion analyzer and other equipment is used to make sure that the gas equipment is in proper working order.
